Summer, 1944. A small squadron of British and American aircraft depart at dawn on strike into Germany, but as they cross the English Channel, the squadron vanishes. Drawn thousands of light-years across the galaxy by Kamalon's "Sensitive Mothers," ten men and eight aircraft are greeted by a roaring crowd in a field before the provincial capitol, on the continent of Azra; a land in desperate need of champions.
Captain Ross Murdock and the 51 Squadron are cast into a whirlwind adventure of intrigue, treachery, and romance as they are "culled" back and forth across the universe, outwitting and outrunning the Germans, while they attempt to foil the invasion of Azra by the neighboring continent of Krete.

Aviation fans, don't miss this one. The P-51s and Spitfires alone make this a great read, but pit them against alien enemy aircraft, and you'll see them triumph as never before on planet earth. This novel delivers an unwilling team of heroes called to fight on behalf of an alien civilization in another galaxy. The logistics of how these men in their planes are pulled to another planet are not what matter. How these men react to the king and his request for help, how they team up in battle, how many obstacles the enemy throws at them - this is the stuff of great military, patriotic and historical fiction. Many of the scenes read like a World War II battle, especially the unbearable invasion and casualty count at Normandy. Our heroes are called upon to revisit earth, to steal some Nazi weaponry (along with a few other surprising heists) in an agonizing and prolonged case of "torture the protagonist." Be prepared to suffer as you fall in love with every character, only to see one after another fall in battle. This is a great story, perhaps marred by an occasional trope of the romance genre, Point-of-View violations, and iffy science, but David Weber is right: "It’s all about the voice. A confident, strong, enthusiastic voice will hide a multitude of sins." (Sarah Hoyt, thanks for that quote.) This is a great novel, rousing, epic, inspiring and patriotic, with characters you'll never forget.

The Hawks of Kamalon (Audible Audio Edition) Michael Reisig Cameron Beirele Books in Motion Books Reviews
Enthralling tale of a group of WWII pilots sent across space to another planet. Although I am not a big aviation fan, I found this well written book to be a favorite.
Just when you are settling into a good shoot em up in The Battle Of Britain in WW II, the totally unexpected happens in a credible way (who says it could not happen) and the new adventure takes off,but not before the Germans get in the act and almost stop the Hawks. They do face even greater battles on their adopted home and almost lose it. Michael Reisig has a way to take his characters a bit beyond the brink and when you think all may be lost things turn out differently. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
I choose this rating because I was very impressed with this book. It was a totally different take on a subject matter that I have never before seen. I felt as if I was in the story myself, and went through the highs and lows along with the characters. The concept
might have been a little bit of a stretch but that doesn't mean is isn't a great book because I think it is. It actually brought out emotions
in me at appropriate times as the story progressed. I highly recommend this book to anyone that appreciates adventure science fiction
An amazing story from a master story-teller. I read this book after Michael Reisig's later works, and am stunned by the complexity and level of action in The Hawks of Kamalon. I got an adrenalin rush every time I started to read the Hawk's exploits. The cruel leader of the baddies - Nygol - got his just deserts, but alas many others went into Hell with him. If you haven't read this book, you are missing one of the best.
I'm an avid book reader and I usually like science fiction, romance, and action alone. But this awesome book has it all! This has exciting aerial fighting, gun battles, wars and romance and sci-fi. I had no idea about this book when I started to read it but the action just grabs you and you cannot put it down! Any guy would love this book of heroes and villains as well as any women, like myself, who just want a change of pace from the common to the extraordinary! If you buy any book this year you have to but this one! I got mine for free through kindle buffet app and bless you Michael Reisig, I'm definitely buying the rest of your books.
Very interesting premise... world war II fighters thrust into an alien world who's very survival is at risk. If you are expecting a lot of fancy alien gadgets, you will be somewhat disappointed. While there is some interesting technology, the real story is the tenacity of the offworlders (the earthlings) as the struggle to survive. The action sequences are riveting. I found I just could not put the book down. Some of the chapters are quite lengthy, so there may be occasions where you want to stop, but there just isn't a good break point - so you keep on reading. It's the kind of book that makes you want to keep on reading, darn it.
This book will not be for everyone as the book is pretty much a story about warfare. The fighting sequences are quite descriptive and in some cases very gruesome.
I enjoyed the book and I recommend it to anyone that likes intense action, good versus evil, a bit of science fiction, some romance, and a great story.
These pilots from WWII who are preparing to deliver bombs to the enemy get jerked across the universe (a la Bermuda Triangle stuff) to help a peaceful society withstand a bunch of warmongers who are bound and determined to take over the whole planet which mainly seems to be the place THEY (aforementioned peaceful folk) are. That's about the size of it. The way the story is set up is really interesting... there's action (lots of it - too much description of the air battles and ground stuff to suit me - thus the 4 instead of 5 stars), intrigue (there's a spy/traitor who was too obvious for me and should have been for the people living in the castle), romance (several instances). It was a clean book sex-wise but there was some language... don't remember ever seeing the f-bomb but I've trained my mind to skip over it... don't ask... don't know how it works but it does... -) You might find it worth the read.
